Leaked Emails Expose NASA’s GoFast UFO Cover Up

Newly released internal NASA emails are raising serious questions about how the agency handled one of the most famous UFO videos in modern history. According to reporting by the Daily Mail, documents obtained by UFO researcher Grant Lavac through a Freedom of Information Act request show that NASA’s 2023 UAP study panel never interviewed the Navy aviators who recorded the GoFast video, never had access to the raw sensor data, and only closely examined one single case when evaluating high velocity UAP claims. That single case was the GoFast video itself.

NASA UAP panelist Josh Semeter, who directs Boston University’s Center for Space Physics, acknowledged the limitation in an internal email written weeks before the agency released its findings. According to the FOIA records, Semeter wrote that the panel did not speak with the aviators and that the analysis was based purely on information in the publicly released video. He further stated the available data were insufficient to identify the object’s size, shape, material, or whether it had any flight surfaces. As referenced in the documents, Semeter made clear that even though the math suggested the object was not moving at extraordinary velocity, this did not mean the GoFast incident had been explained.

A second NASA panel member, David Spergel, president of the Simons Foundation, pushed back on the report’s wording in writing. According to an August 21, 2023 internal message, Spergel told colleagues he did not believe the panel had reviewed enough cases to justify broad conclusions about multiple high speed UFO events, and urged the team to revise the public language. The records also reveal an internal disagreement over UAP record keeping.

According to a February 9, 2024 email, Daniel Evans of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate stated the agency was not aware of any UAP records at NASA, while management and program analyst Patti Stockman wrote back questioning that claim directly. Reference to the same documents confirms NASA’s UAP study team consisted of external experts rather than agency staff. The findings drop as President Trump has publicly directed agencies to release UAP files and as Rep. Eric Burlison and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna continue pushing for the release of 46 classified UAP video files.
