The list of American scientists tied to classified research who have turned up dead or missing has grown again. Joshua LeBlanc, a twenty-nine-year-old NASA aerospace technologies electrical engineer, was found dead inside his burned Tesla near Huntsville, Alabama on July 22, 2025. According to Fox News Digital, the vehicle struck a guardrail and several trees before catching fire, and his body inside was burned so severely that police needed three days to confirm his identity. LeBlanc was a team lead on NASA’s Space Nuclear Propulsion program and on the Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operation, known as DRACO, a nuclear thermal propulsion engine.
Reference details from KLFY indicate that LeBlanc’s family reported him missing at 4:32 that morning after he failed to arrive at work, which they said was uncharacteristic. Tesla Sentry Mode data pulled by police placed his car at the Huntsville airport for four hours that morning, a trip his family said was not on his schedule. He left his phone and wallet at home.
The FBI is now spearheading a coordinated investigation alongside the Department of Energy and the Department of War. At least eleven other people, most connected to nuclear science and space research, have died or gone missing since 2022. Those include retired Major General William McCasland, Anthony Chavez, Monica Reza, Melissa Casias, and Steven Garcia among the missing, and Michael David Hicks, Frank Maiwald, Nuno Loureiro, Jason Thomas, Amy Eskridge, and Carl Grillmair among the deceased. Reference reporting from Fox News confirms that Hicks, Maiwald, and Reza were all connected to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
According to a formal letter dated April 20 and co-signed by House Oversight Chairman James Comer and Representative Eric Burlison, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is investigating whether these disappearances represent a grave threat to national security. Burlison stated on the Annie Frey Show that five of the missing scientists all walked out of their homes without their cell phones, which he called the most suspicious shared detail.

Burlison also confirmed on the record that one of the deceased scientists, anti-gravity researcher Amy Eskridge, had reportedly been hit with Havana Syndrome, a directed microwave energy injury first documented on US personnel in Cuba.
President Trump told reporters he hopes the scientist cases turn out to be unconnected and said the public would know within a week and a half.
