Why The FBI And CIA Are Not Treating This Seriously

The federal investigation into a growing cluster of dead and missing American scientists moved into a new phase this weekend, with the Department of Energy formally confirming its involvement and a retired Air Force general publicly breaking with the position of the nation’s top intelligence agencies. Energy Secretary Chris Wright appeared on Fox News Sunday and said the DOE has opened a formal probe as part of a coordinated federal effort, noting that many of the nation’s nuclear security scientists fall under his department. According to Wright, it is too early to draw conclusions, but nothing alarming has turned up yet. That pace has frustrated lawmakers, including Congressman Eric Burlison, who is leading a bipartisan letter to the FBI pushing for the nation’s top investigators to treat the pattern as the anomaly it appears to be.

The pattern involves at least 11 scientists and researchers tied to sensitive aerospace, nuclear, and planetary defense work. As reported by Fox News, Burlison named several, including Monica Reza, Anthony Chavez, Melissa Casias, Steven Garcia, and retired Major General Neil McCasland, all of whom vanished from their homes without phones, wallets, or devices. Reza’s advanced rocket materials work at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory was funded in part by the Air Force Research Laboratory, the same organization that McCasland later commanded at Wright-Patterson. Authorities have not publicly confirmed a direct relationship between the two, but the shared research pipeline is reportedly among the connections federal investigators are now examining.

On Will Cain Country, Congressman Tim Burchett offered one of the most direct explanations from any sitting member of Congress. He described a meeting in his office with a Navy admiral who told him, in his words, that they are real, and walked him through a sonar account of an object the size of a football field moving over 200 miles per hour underwater. Burchett then connected the scientist deaths to a broader cover up theory, comparing the pattern to a family restaurant owner roughing up busboys to send a message to a chef suspected of leaking the family recipes. His position is that the scientists being killed or disappearing may not be the actual targets, but messages directed at someone higher up who is close to talking.

Retired Air Force Brigadier General Blaine Holt made what may be the most consequential statement of the weekend. According to Newsmax, Holt said two similar cases could be coincidence, but 11 is not. He then asked why the White House is opening this probe while the FBI, the NSA, the CIA, and the DIA have all passed on treating it as an anomaly. Holt said there is a very big split inside the executive branch on whether the pattern is a concerning issue, and that the answer to that question will be very revealing.

The investigation is unfolding alongside two parallel disclosure efforts. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna continues pushing for 46 specific classified UAP documents that she says the Department of War initially could not locate. And President Trump announced at a Turning Point Action event that he has directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to begin releasing government files related to UAP and unexplained aerial phenomena, with the first releases expected in the coming days. According to the New York Post, one source who has viewed the footage described the material as something the public has never seen.
