The UFO Cover Has A Number. And It Was Declassified

A government contractor with top-secret clearance has become the tenth person tied to classified US defense programs to go missing or die under unusual circumstances since mid-2023, according to reporting by journalist Lauren Conlin on NewsNation. Steven Garcia, 48, walked out of his Albuquerque, New Mexico home on August 28th, 2025, carrying only a handgun and leaving his phone, wallet, car, and keys behind. A source close to the case told the Daily Mail that Garcia held a high-level oversight position at the Kansas City National Security Campus, a facility that manufactures more than 80 percent of all non-nuclear components used in US military nuclear weapons, and that a foreign intelligence operation “makes the most sense” as an explanation for his disappearance.

Garcia’s case fits a pattern that now spans ten individuals. Among the others, retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland — named in the 2016 Podesta emails as someone with direct knowledge of UAP crash retrieval programs — vanished from Albuquerque on February 27th, 2026. NASA JPL director Monica Jacinto Reza, who co-developed a classified rocket superalloy funded by McCasland’s own laboratory, disappeared while hiking in California in June 2025. Former Los Alamos National Laboratory employee Anthony Chavez and Los Alamos administrative employee Melissa Casias disappeared within four days of each other in 2025, both on foot and both leaving everything behind. MIT fusion physicist Nuno Loureiro and Caltech astrophysicist Carl Grillmair were both killed at their homes in late 2025 and early 2026 respectively. Jason Thomas, a Novartis researcher with active Department of Defense contracts, disappeared in December 2025 and was found dead in March 2026. Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker stated this week that US scientists in sensitive fields have long been targeted by hostile foreign intelligence services, though no official agency has confirmed any connection between these cases.

At the same time, Representative Anna Paulina Luna’s April 14th deadline for 46 classified UAP videos held by AARO — the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office — arrived and passed without a response from the Pentagon. Luna posted on X that the letter never reached the appropriate authorities inside the building, calling it “how convenient.” A source with direct knowledge of Luna’s office confirmed to UFO News that some videos are now moving through the declassification process and that cooperation is underway, though the deadline will be extended partly due to the current Iran situation.

Separately, NewsNation’s Ross Coulthart sat down with former intelligence official Geoff Cruickshank and researcher Jed Davis to examine the Majestic 12 documents — a disputed document set the US government has called a forgery since 1984. Davis found that a CIA file number appearing inside those 1984 documents, 834021, matches a real CIA file that was not declassified until June 2022, 38 years later. A second internal CIA code designation, CI/SI 28–55, also appears in the MJ-12 documents despite not being publicly declassified until the year 2000. Davis’s position, drawn from his research into declassified post-war intelligence records, is that a single document in the MJ-12 collection was deliberately planted with errors to discredit the entire set.

Cruickshank, a former intelligence official who held top-secret clearance, stated plainly that the documents are real. Separately, a verified and undisputed 1947 Air Force document shows that General Nathan Twining officially told Allied governments that flying saucers are, in his words, real and not fictitious — a statement later referenced verbatim by Australian nuclear scientist Harry Turner in a 1971 document that has only recently come to public attention.
