Congress Targets June 9 for a Direct UFO Disclosure Demand

On Tuesday, June 9, at 1 p.m. Eastern, a bipartisan group of lawmakers and a former intelligence officer plan to gather on the steps of the United States Capitol with one request for the president. They want the release of specific UFO files that one of them says he has already identified by name. According to the official announcement carried by AP News, the central figure is David Grusch, the same former intelligence officer who told Congress under oath in 2023 that the government is concealing the existence of non-human intelligence.

The expected lineup includes Representatives Tim Burchett, Eric Burlison, Jared Moskowitz, and Anna Paulina Luna. The press conference will be hosted by investigative journalist Leslie Kean, who helped report the influential 2017 article on the Navy Tic Tac case, and documentary filmmaker James Fox, known for The Phenomenon and Out of the Blue. Burchett co-chairs the bipartisan House UAP Caucus and has framed the issue around accountability rather than spectacle, arguing that the real question is why the government spends tens of millions of dollars while telling the public these objects do not exist.

The press conference is built around three demands. First, release of the exact UFO files Grusch says he has flagged to oversight bodies. Second, passage of the UAP Disclosure Act, which would create a legal pathway for releasing records while protecting national security. Third, stronger whistleblower protections. That third point carries weight given what Matthew Brown told the Weaponized podcast, describing his experience with an ODNI effort called the Director’s Initiative Group as something closer to an operation that targeted whistleblowers than one that protected them.

Burchett stated that he has personally viewed footage held by the FBI, an account that reference reporting from former Navy pilots Ryan Graves and Commander David Fravor only strengthens. Whether the president acts, and whether the agencies holding these records cooperate, will define what June 9 actually delivers.
