Engineers Were Told UFO Debris Was Russian

Joe Rogan asked the question that’s underneath every disclosure fight. Why does the government not simply release everything. The answer he received from religious studies professor Diana Pasulka, who has been researching this field since 2012 by interviewing insiders rather than chasing sightings, reframes who the fight is actually against.

Her position is that the government cannot disclose something that is not theirs to disclose. According to Pasulka, there is probably a group of people who hold this information, or hold pieces of it, and she doubts any single person has the complete story. She described the structure as super compartmentalized, and she said presidents are referred to as short timers who are not read in. If that is accurate, every subpoena and every records demand aimed at the executive branch produces exactly what the public has been receiving, which is distant lights and partial files, because that may genuinely be all the executive branch holds.

Pasulka also described what happened after her first book American Cosmic was published in 2019. She says people connected to intelligence communities approached her and indicated that she should stop writing about the subject and return to her Catholic history work. She asked why and never received a straight answer. What she took from the encounter was the message that these secrets were not going to be told.

The most consequential section of her interview concerns how recovered material has been handled. Pasulka says one of her long standing sources would bring engineers in to work on material without telling them what it was. Reference her account, he would tell them the material was Chinese or Russian and that reverse engineering it was urgent for maintaining dominance. The reasoning, according to Pasulka, is that people build faster when they believe a rival already succeeded, similar to how the four minute mile record fell repeatedly once one runner proved it was possible. The consequence for oversight is significant. If engineers believed they were working on foreign hardware, then the memos, program names and budget justifications all describe foreign hardware, and a cleared member of Congress could read the entire file and find nothing worth questioning.

She also discussed the work of John Keel, the journalist who investigated the Mothman sightings in West Virginia and later argued UFOs were not spacecraft. Keel called it the super spectrum, describing it as a space that has always been here and that influences humanity, and he placed UFOs, apparitions and ghosts inside the same category. His reasoning came from a repeating pattern in which witnesses received accurate predictions early, trusted the source, and then received false information. Keel treated the early accuracy as a mechanism rather than a courtesy, and concluded that people who perceive it are cursed rather than gifted. Pasulka does not go that far, though she has said she has no interest in an encounter herself.
