UFO EXPERIENCERS And The Dark Side Of Contact

Chris Rutkowski has been investigating UFO cases in Canada since 1975 and has written over a dozen books on the subject. According to documents obtained through Canada’s Access to Information Act, the Royal Canadian Air Force and NORAD officially refer UFO sightings directly to him. But after decades of experience, Rutkowski has reached a conclusion that challenges the UFO community.

In a recent appearance on Anomaly Archives, Rutkowski revealed that multiple abductees he worked with over the years attempted suicide. One case involved a man he referred to as Dave Kowal, who had experienced bedroom visitations and encounters with entities since childhood. Rutkowski connected him with a licensed clinical psychiatrist who used hypnosis in their practice. Under hypnosis, Dave recalled a disturbing encounter from 1987 involving a grotesque entity with a glowing stick in his hand. A year later, he attempted to take his own life.

According to Rutkowski, the phenomenon has evolved significantly over the decades. Classic abduction cases peaked in the 1980s and 1990s, characterized by unwilling participants being taken aboard craft and subjected to medical examinations, often involving reproductive procedures. Abductees typically described their experiences as traumatic, feeling violated and powerless.

Today, Rutkowski observes a shift toward contactee style experiences, where individuals willingly engage in spiritual communication with entities and often feel chosen or enlightened. Contactees tend to describe pleasant encounters and frequently express a desire to share messages with humanity. Rutkowski noted that this shift mirrors the contactee movement of the 1950s, when figures like George Adamski claimed friendly meetings with benevolent space brothers. He also pointed out that UFO encounter characteristics are nearly identical to ghost and spirit encounters, including balls of light, electromagnetic effects, and entities delivering messages telling witnesses not to be afraid. Whether these phenomena are related or simply interpreted through different cultural frameworks remains an open question.

This observation connects to something Luis Elizondo discussed in a recent interview with Julian Dorey. According to Elizondo, religious fundamentalists inside the Pentagon believe UFOs are demonic rather than extraterrestrial. One official reportedly stopped him in the halls and asked if he had read his Bible lately, warning that researchers should not be investigating these phenomena. So while Rutkowski observes experiencers becoming more spiritual, Elizondo describes religious opposition from inside the government. Two different perspectives pointing to the same intersection.

Elizondo also addressed why advanced craft might crash at all. He pointed to the Sully Sullenberger incident from 2009, where birds brought down a commercial jet over the Hudson River. From a bird’s perspective, it would seem impossible to bring down a machine built by advanced humans. Yet it happened. His point is that the technological gap may not be as vast as assumed, and even advanced technology can have vulnerabilities.

Rutkowski’s core message is clear. UFO investigators should not handle abduction cases. These experiences require licensed mental health professionals, not amateur researchers conducting hypnosis sessions.
